Weddings

Are you or someone you know getting married and looking for an officiant?  Rabbi Pinsky works with couples from all different backgrounds to craft wedding ceremonies that are meaningful and custom tailored to each unique couple.

"As a rabbi, it is a privilege to elevate the beautiful rituals and traditions that Judaism has to offer while guiding couples through their wedding experience. While a wedding occupies a sacred moment in time, I work with couples to plan not just for a single ceremony, but also to prepare for a life together."

Rabbi Pinsky is available for weddings in the New York area. She also travels for destination weddings and ceremonies in other locations. From pre-marital counseling to planning and the ceremony itself, Rabbi Pinsky is there for couples every step of the way. She is a certified facilitator of "Prepare/Enrich," an internationally renowned pre-marital counseling program.

Rabbi Pinsky is happy to help create a Jewish ceremony for couples where both partners are Jewish, or where one partner comes from a different faith tradition.  She also proudly officiates at LGBTQ inclusive ceremonies. (Fun fact - Rabbi Pinsky performed the first legal same-sex Jewish wedding in New Orleans!)

."It was really God (and a fortuitous rabbinical connection) who connected my husband Aaron and I with Rabbi Pinsky. As New Yorkers getting married in New Orleans, we were worried about finding a rabbi who would not only be able to craft a personal and meaningful ceremony for two far-removed people, but one who could also support us in the months leading up to the ceremony as the stressors and frustrations mounted. From the moment we first chatted with Rabbi Pinsky, we were both blown away by her authenticity, her caring nature, and her genuine interest in our story and our future. Each of us spent time speaking with her individually about our love story and our hopes for our future, and she guided us through careful consideration and selection of the traditions that best reflected our individual values and our Jewish identity as a couple. On the day of our wedding itself, Rabbi Pinsky helped us and our families stop to savor the beauty of the rituals and traditions, which would have very easily been lost in the flurry of the day's schedule. She also spearheaded a ceremony that caused us to shed more than a few happy tears thanks to very personal storytelling. Our families and our guests told us time and time again on the day of our wedding and even now (two years later!) how special our ceremony was. We are so grateful to have received such genuine care, comfort, and advice from such a lovely person and inspiring spiritual leader." - Mallory L., New York

"My wife and I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked with Rabbi Pinsky in the planning and officiation of our wedding. We, like so many other couples, were totally sidelined by the covid-19 pandemic. The prospect of pursuing a large, traditional wedding was suddenly impossible, dangerous, and furthermore, dubbed illegal by the state. We met Rabbi Pinsky early on in this process, and conducted our sessions via Zoom. Her open-mindedness, professionalism, and warmth was always a welcome, reassuring force, especially during a time where so much seemed uncertain. Despite the pandemic and brief window of time in which we were planning it, our wedding would happen and be lovely!

The resulting ceremony was an intimate, inclusive occasion: the kind we would have wanted even if the coronavirus hadn’t thrown the world for a loop. It incorporated religion but not to a degree that alienated or made anyone uncomfortable. It felt personal and special. Our 15 guests and those watching via Zoom all agreed. Most importantly, it was a celebration of my wife & I that, to our families and guests, offered levity & optimism after so many bleak months. We’re grateful to Rabbi Pinsky for making this possible" - Alex R., New York

"We were so honored that Rabbi Alexis Pinsky officiated our wedding. In the lead up to our big day, she was supportive of our interest to participate in pre-marital counseling. As we prepared for our ceremony, she took the time to get to know each of us and our personal stories. When we made a suggestion about a reading to include, she was receptive and worked it into her plan. When we wanted to honor our friends and loved ones with roles in the service, she worked with us to create organic and seamless ways to do so... And when the big day finally arrived, she made sure that all the details were taken care. Despite the fact that our ceremony was indoors, and the room was baking in summer heat; Rabbi Alexis literally kept cool, making our ceremony everything that we'd hope it would be. And for weeks after, our guests could not stop sharing their positive impressions: 'Wow, your rabbi was amazing!' We could not have asked for a better officiant!"  - Barry and Matt, New York

"Rabbi Pinsky was simply phenomenal.  I still honestly believe that my ceremony was the best out of the tons of weddings I’ve gone to because of her. She was so sweet, had a beautiful voice, and really made the people who weren’t Jewish feel comfortable (which was more than half of the wedding party.) My family still gushes about how beautiful the Ketubah singing was as well. Even before the wedding day, she was super easy to reach and communicate with. We were thousands of miles apart but she still worked with us over Skype. I wish we could do it all again!" - Cali H., New York

"My husband and I chose Rabbi Pinsky to officiate our wedding ceremony because of her welcoming and open demeanor.

We wanted a traditional wedding with more egalitarian components and Rabbi Pinsky was more than happy to accommodate. My husband is not Jewish, and Rabbi Pinsky helped him understand the Jewish wedding while making him feel comfortable throughout the pre-marital counseling sessions. Our ceremony was absolutely perfect and Rabbi Pinsky’s chanting and singing were beautiful. We were very happy to have Rabbi Pinsky with us on the most important day of our lives."- Katie E., New Orleans

"As a same-sex couple, we wanted to have our wedding officiated by a rabbi who embraces and celebrates our relationship. We couldn't have found anyone better! Rabbi Alexis was such an instrumental and wonderful part of our wedding. Our meetings beforehand helped us conceptualize what we wanted for our wedding and she really helped us create the perfect ceremony. She created a Jewish ceremony that was modern and tailored to our unique blended family. She spoke so beautifully about us during the ceremony and everyone remarked on how she really captured our spirits. We loved her thoughtful and personal touches, we really couldn't have asked for a better person to officiate our wedding." - Mya and Leah, New York

"Ben and I got married in a friend’s backyard in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. All of our plans from our original wedding vision had to be changed at sort of the last minute. Our hometown Rabbi was unavailable due to health issues and we were the most devastated about that. Until...we met Rabbi Pinsky. She had an initial phone conversation with us followed by several zoom meetings and truly took the time to get to know us. We instantly felt a connection with her and knew it was bashert (meant to be) that she marry us.

Come the day of our wedding, when anxiety was ever present, Rabbi Pinsky's arrival brought a sense of calm, comfort, and purpose to the day. As soon as the ceremony began, it was evident that she adapted beautifully to the backyard and Covid conscious setting and made all of our attendees feel engaged in the words and actions of the ceremony. Later on in the evening, several of our the non-Jewish attendees kvelled about the ceremony and the "amazing rabbi".

Rabbi Pinsky’s words made both my husband and I shed a tear during the ceremony and our wedding could not have been more perfect, despite the chaos of the world around us. We look forward to life cycle ceremonies with Rabbi Pinsky. Ben and I can not recommend her highly enough!" - Mallory and Ben, New York
